When My World Shattered: How Grace Held Me When I Couldn’t Hold Myself Together

When My World Shattered: How Grace Held Me When I Couldn’t Hold Myself Together

Losing my husband was supposed to break me. It was supposed to completely crush my spirit and shatter my world into a million irreversible pieces. And the truth is? It did.

When death knocks on your door, it doesn’t care that you still have bills to pay, a job to show up for, or children who need to see their mother smile. The world keeps spinning, even when yours has violently stopped. It felt profoundly unfair. I begged God for a miracle, pleading for a new heart for the man I loved, but the answer was no. In that raw, agonizing moment, anger tried to take root in my heart—until I had to drop to my knees and repent.

From 2018 to this very day, the ache of missing him hasn't gone away. Every single day, I miss my husband. But here I am—still standing, still breathing, still fighting.

How? Because when I had a million valid reasons to give up, God kept me when I was completely incapable of keeping myself.

If you are walking through a valley of unimaginable grief right now, feeling like the weight of the world is crushing your chest, I want you to know you aren't alone. As Psalm 34:18 gently reminds us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

When life breaks you, open His Word. Stay close to Jesus in the dark seasons, and I promise you—He will carry you through.
