Finding Strength

When the Tears Won’t Stop: Finding Strength in the Hardest

At the start of this year, I made myself a promise: I am not going to cry.

If you know me, you can probably laugh right along with me now, because the joke has very much been on me. If I’m being completely honest, I have been crying all year long—through the good, the bad, and everything in between. But sometimes, God’s voice doesn't come in a gentle whisper; sometimes it calls us to do the hardest thing imaginable: leave them behind.

All I ever really wanted was to finally fit in. I wanted that deep, undeniable feeling of being loved and accepted by my family. But walking with Jesus often requires an agonizing kind of surrender—letting go of the ideal, picture-perfect version of what we yearn for most so that we can finally open our eyes and see what is actually in front of us.

For me, that means looking past the pain and seeing the refuge God did provide: my church family, the Refuge Temple, and the mentors who love me relentlessly, flaws and all, every single day.

Still, there are days in this walk when the weight feels unbearable. There are moments when I look at the road ahead and whisper, "God, I just cannot do this."

And yet, that’s when I remember Abraham. Asked to sacrifice everything, he walked in blind obedience right up to the edge, only for God to call his name at the very last second and provide a way through. You never know when your own "Abraham moment" is waiting just around the corner.

Hard moments don't punish us; they build our muscle. They strip away the illusions and prove just how tough we really are. So, if you feel like you can't go on today, keep going anyway. Put one foot in front of the other, open your Bible, and hold on tight.

For God I live, and for God I die. Let's find our strength in the struggle together.

Life doesn’t always hand us easy seasons

Life doesn’t always hand us easy seasons. Whether you are facing a sudden storm, an overwhelming season of waiting, or a heavy burden that feels impossible to carry, it’s easy to look around and wonder: God, where are you?

When the pain sets in, the world tells us to just "be strong" and push through. But as believers, finding strength in the struggle looks entirely different. It isn't about white-knuckling your way through hardship or pretending you have it all together. True resilience is found in the quiet, radical belief that your hardest moments aren't wasted—they are where your faith grows deepest.

You aren't meant to carry the weight alone, and you certainly don't have to manufacture your own strength. If you’re feeling weary, empty, or ready to break today, take a deep breath. Here is how you can stop relying on your own power, lean into the One who conquered the grave, and discover that even in the darkest valleys, you are never forsaken.

Isaiah 40:29: "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." (God gives you energy when you are empty

James 1:2-4: Consider it pure joy when you face troubles, because testing your faith produces endurance. (Hard times help you grow strong inside

Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Jesus gives you the ability to get through anything

Are you tired of fighting battles you were never meant to carry alone

Are you tired of fighting battles you were never meant to carry alone?

For so long, many of us try to force our own healing, gripping the ropes of control so tightly that our knuckles turn white. We want the breakthrough, the peace, and the abundant life, but we resist the one thing required to receive it: surrender.

True spiritual growth doesn't happen by accident; it has a divine order. Before God can build us up, He has to root us down. But that kind of deep, life-changing transformation requires us to finally let down our guard, drop the rope, and let Jesus do the rescuing. If you are exhausted from trying to fix yourself, it’s time to stop wasting time and say yes to the Healer. Your breakthrough begins the moment you finally let go.

From the Brink of Destruction to Grace

From the Brink of Destruction to Grace:

We’ve all heard the phrase “young, dumb, and stupid,” but until you’ve lived it, you don’t quite understand the heavy toll it takes. I know what it’s like to be lost—truly, deeply lost. I was so convinced I was in love that I didn’t realize I was standing on the edge of a cliff, staring down my own destruction.

I gave my heart to a man who was willing to kill my soul, my spirit, and my mind just to get through his day. He treated me like a disposable trash bag, lashing out because of his own insecurities and lack of manhood. And for a long time, I stayed. I fought back—not realizing that my survival instincts had just become another trauma response.

Growing up without parents or guidance, I went looking for love in all the wrong places. I chased a worldly man who never loved me, completely unaware of my own worth. And the hardest truth to swallow? No one was coming to rescue me. I had to save myself.

That rescue didn't happen until I finally hit my breaking point and made the most important decision of my life: I said no to the toxicity, and I said yes to Jesus.

If you are reading this and sitting in the wreckage of a toxic relationship right now, hear me: Stop looking for the guidance, protection, and unconditional love you never had in a worldly man. You are worthy of peace. You are worthy of genuine self-love.

It’s time to wake up, choose yourself, and start fighting the right way—God's way.

Before it’s too late, let’s take that step forward together. Open the Word, say yes to His call, and let the ultimate Healer show you who you were truly created to be.

Testimony (Healing

From Brokenness to Breakthrough: How My Deepest Pain Became My Greatest Victory

They tell you that healing is a journey, but nobody warns you about the sudden avalanches. One minute you’re sitting quietly with your thoughts, and the next, a flood of memories comes rushing back—reminding you of places you survived, secrets you carried, and the exact moments you should have lost your life.

By all logic, I shouldn’t be here. I survived a childhood shadowed by an absent father, a struggling mother doing her best to hold the pieces together, and a devastating thing that happen to me I was forced to carry in silence. For years, I walked with my head hanging low, paralyzed by the fear that if the truth ever came to light, it would destroy everything. I carried the shame of betrayal by the very hands that should have protected me, holding onto anger toward a world that looked away.

I thought the pain was my permanent address.

But then, I met Jesus.

Piece by piece, He began to untangle the fear, remove the chains of bondage, and rewrite my story. What the enemy meant to destroy me, God turned into a stepping stone for my victory.

If you are reading this and carrying a heavy, unspoken pain today—if you feel like the scars of your past have disqualified you from a bright future—I want you to know this: This is not the end of your story.

Healing is possible. Forgiveness is freeing. And your pain is about to become your testimony. Take a deep breath, lift your head high, and let’s walk out of the dark and into the light together.

Testimony (Forgiveness

The mirror in the hallway used to be an enemy. For years, walking past it meant keeping my eyes glued to the floor, my shoulders hunched as if bearing the weight of a collapsing roof. I walked with my head down because I was ashamed of what happened to me as a kid.

My half brother was the first man who ever touched me.

I was just a child when it happened. I didn't have the words for it then, only a cold, heavy dread that wrapped around my ribs and refused to let go. He made me feel ashamed like it was his duty, like I was something to be used and discarded, and no one protected us. Not me, not my sisters. We were left in the dark.

Our foundation was already cracked. My father was a ghost in our home—a man who fathered children across the city, addicted to drugs, cheating on my mother, and eventually leaving her to shoulder the crushing weight of a broken household alone. For a long time, I couldn't understand why my mother was so hard, why she was so mean. But looking back through the lens of grace, I see it. I can see why she finally kicked me out as a teen. I was just another ghost in her house, adding to an unbearable load. She was drowning, and I was just trying to survive.

For years, I walked around with a raging fire in my chest. I was angry at everyone—at my father, at my mother, at the world, and most of all, at myself. I would sit in the quiet corners of my mind and wonder why I was even alive. Some days, I felt like I should be dead; other days, I believed I deserved grace only because of Jesus.

I spent so much time bound by shame. But then, my healing season began.

It didn’t happen all at once. Healing is a dismantling. It is sitting in the quiet and letting the truth rise to the surface, no matter how much it burns. When the memories came flooding back, I thought they would break me completely. I thought, This is what will kill me.

Instead, I met Jesus.

He didn't rush me. Piece by piece, gentle and steady, He started turning it all around. He began removing the things that terrified me, the invisible chains that kept me locked in a prison of my own making. He showed me that what tried to destroy me didn't have the final say.

The hardest part wasn’t just facing the past; it was the surrender. I had to forgive my brother. God required it of me, not because my brother deserved it, but because I deserved freedom. I had to forgive myself, too, for carrying the burden of someone else's sin for so long, for beating myself up over shadows I never created.

Today, the things that tried to kill me have become the stepping stones of my victory.

My story isn’t over, and neither is yours. What was meant to bury you can become the very platform God uses to display His redemption. He is going to get the glory out of my life, every single broken piece of it.

So if you are reading this, carrying a secret that feels too heavy to breathe under, hear me: start with forgiveness. Let go of the anchor and let God do the rest. Take a step forward. Stop living in bondage.

Lift your head up high. Say yes to Jesus. Say yes to the call on your life, and let Him begin the healing that only He can do. Waste no more time. Open your heart, let Jesus take over, and say yes.

Testimony!!! Mental health matters

They told my parents I was gone.

As a teenager sitting in a mental institution, surrounded by the heavy weight of my family’s disappointed stares, I asked myself the ultimate question: How did I get here?

I had made so many bad decisions and mistakes that I honestly believed I was beyond saving. I thought I was completely unlovable, unworthy of anything good, and destined to be tucked away, forgotten, and broken forever. I genuinely believed I belonged right there in that hospital.

But I am living proof that where you start does not determine your final destination.

If Jesus can rescue someone like me—someone the world, and even my own mind, had written off—He can save you. If He can turn my darkest, most hopeless situation completely around, He can do the exact same thing for yours.

Today, I don't rely on medication to quiet the storms in my head; I rely strictly on Jesus. He has given me every tool I need to fight the demons in my mind, heal my thoughts when the old attacks try to creep back in, and stand firm in victory.

It doesn't matter what your life looks like right now. It doesn't matter how deep you think you’ve fallen. Jesus has the final say.

I’m no longer trapped in a mental institution—I am saved, delivered, and serving the King who is my everything. He rescued me like no one else could. So why not choose Him today? Say yes to Jesus, and watch Him rewrite your story.

Released from the Trap: Why Your Past Has No Right to My Present

Released from the Trap: Why Your Past Has No Right to My Present

How many times have you tried to step forward into the calling God has placed on your life, only to be yanked backward by the ghosts of who you used to be?

Let’s get one thing straight today—and let the enemy hear it loud and clear: You cannot hold my sins over my head anymore. Not one. Not a single one.

Far too often, people are quick to appoint themselves judge and jury, holding onto a dated version of us that God crucified on a cross over two thousand years ago. They want to measure your past against their standard, forgetting a fundamental truth: we are all sinners saved by grace. Just because our sins look different on the surface doesn't give anyone the right to sit on a throne they were never assigned to. My opinion of you doesn't matter, and your judgment of me won't stick, because my life is no longer defined by my yesterday—it is defined by my Savior.

The cross wasn't just a symbol; it was the ultimate receipt, stamped “Paid in Full.”

If you’ve been letting the accuser—or the people around you—keep you shackled to a label Jesus tore up, it’s time to unlock those chains. As 1 John 1:9 reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

It’s time to drop the stones of judgment, answer the call on your life, and step fully into the freedom that is already yours. Let’s talk about what it means to leave the past in the dust and walk unapologetically in the grace of Jesus.

Rooted in Jesus

We live in a world that operates like a hurricane. From shifting cultural trends and relentless societal pressures to the personal storms of anxiety, burnout, and broken expectations, modern life constantly tries to uproot us. We hustle for our self-worth, scramble for stability, and look to fickle worldly things to keep us standing. But when the winds of life howl, surface-level solutions simply won't hold.

So, what keeps a person from crashing down?

The answer isn't trying harder or hiding better; it’s going deeper.

Imagine a majestic oak tree standing tall against a category-five storm. While the violent gales thrash its branches above, its true survival happens completely out of sight—deep underground, wrapped tightly around an unmovable foundation, drinking in a limitless supply of life-giving water.

This is the exact picture the Apostle Paul paints for us when he commands us to be “rooted and built up in him.” To be rooted in Jesus means refusing to let your identity, peace, and strength be dictated by the shifting soils of this world. Instead, it means driving your soul’s taproot deep into Christ—using Him as your hidden anchor, your daily wellspring, and your unbreakable source.

If you are tired of being blown about by every passing storm, it’s time to discover what it really means to draw your life from the One who holds all things together.

Rooted in Jesus vs. Source in Jesus: Understanding the Two Sides of Your Spiritual Life

Rooted in Jesus vs. Source in Jesus: Understanding the Two Sides of Your Spiritual Life

When we talk about our relationship with Christ, we often use imagery to describe how deeply we depend on Him. Two of the most powerful metaphors found in Scripture are being rooted in Jesus and having Jesus as our source.

At first glance, they might sound like the exact same thing. After all, both point to a life entirely dependent on the Savior. But when you look closer—and examine the biblical language behind them—you discover two distinct, beautiful dimensions of your walk with God.

One speaks to your stability and daily growth, while the other speaks to your very existence and endless supply.

Let’s break down the difference between being rooted in Jesus and having Jesus as your source, and why understanding both will transform your faith.

1. Rooted in Jesus: The Picture of Stability and Growth

The Metaphor

Imagine a massive, ancient oak tree. The most impressive part of that tree isn't just the canopy of leaves you see swaying in the sunlight; it’s the massive, invisible root system buried deep beneath the dirt. Those roots anchor the tree against violent storms and continuously suck up water and nutrients from the soil.

The Meaning

Being "rooted in Jesus" means growing your life, strength, and faith by intentionally staying connected to Him day by day. It’s an ongoing, active process of plugging your soul into His truth.

The Focus: Stability, steady spiritual growth, and feeding your soul.

The Goal: Standing strong when the hard winds of life blow against you.

Your Part: To stay attached, steady, and positioned in Him.

What the Bible Says About Being Rooted

Scripture frequently uses botanical imagery to describe the believer's need for deep anchorage:

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." — Colossians 2:6–7

"So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love..." — Ephesians 3:17

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord... He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green..." — Jeremiah 17:7–8

When you are rooted in Jesus, you aren't easily knocked over by cultural shifts, personal tragedies, or sudden trials. Your sustenance is hidden away in Him.

2. Jesus as the Source: The Picture of Origin and Flow

The Metaphor

Now, picture an underground water spring bubbling up fresh, crystal-clear water, or a massive power plant generating the electricity that powers an entire city.

The Meaning

When we say Jesus is the source, we mean He is the actual beginning, the Creator, and the eternal fuel pump that gives you life in the first place. He isn't just the soil where you plant your roots; He is the water itself. He is where everything starts, where every breath comes from, and where all spiritual power originates.

The Focus: Origin, creation, and the endless supply of life.

The Goal: Recognizing that you exist, breathe, and have spiritual vitality only because of Him.

Your Part: To receive, depend, and let His life flow through you.

What the Bible Says About Jesus as the Source

Jesus Himself used this exact imagery when describing His relationship with His followers:

"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." — John 15:5

"If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Believers in me, as Scripture has said, ‘Out of their heart will flow rivers of living water.’" — John 7:37–38

Being sourced in Jesus shifts our perspective from what we are doing for Him to what He is constantly pouring into us. It reminds us that we are not self-made; we are conduits of His divine life.

Acknowledge Jesus as your Source. Every morning you wake up, remember that your next breath is a gift from Him. You cannot manufacture your own peace, patience, or righteousness. You must draw it from Him as the ultimate wellspring.

Stay Rooted in Jesus. Once you receive His life, you must intentionally anchor yourself. Read His Word, pray, practice Sabbath, and surround yourself with a faith community. Let your roots grow deeper into His grace so that when trials come, you won't be swept away.

When Jesus is your source, you never have to worry about running dry. And when you are rooted in Him, you will stand strong, weather the storm, and bear fruit that lasts.
